A Gifset made for my sister (and me). :D Anastasia and the Baker from Cinderella II. Say what you will about Disney sequels, some of them have great moments.
“You don’t like her. My mother don’t like her. She’s a dog. And I’m a fat, ugly man. Well, all I know is I had a good time last night. I’m gonna have a good time tonight. If we have enough good times together, I’m gonna get down on my knees. I’m gonna beg that girl to marry me. If we make a party on New Year’s, I got a date for that party. You don’t like her? That’s too bad.”~ Marty (1955)
I have a sweet spot for Anastasia. Ever since I saw Cinderella 3, I’ve sort of always wished she had her own movie. I mean just… ugh, please? She’s so awkward and average looking.
Her personality is so real and adorable and I just really like her ok?
Why can’t more disney princesses look like her? she’s the “ugly, dumb, stepsister we’re all supposed to hate”. She’s been portrayed as some sort of stupid comedy relief because she has big feet that she trips on and because she’s just generally bubbly and kind of “wait huh?”. But in both second and third movie she has, unlike the first original movie, been portrayed as not only a nice and sweet human being, but also fun and she has her own dreams of happiness and love.
And also, all Disney princesses are pretty much flawless. Anastasia has her cheeks and her nose- and to be frank? it’s bloody adorable looking but has been made out to be flaws. Even though many girls look like that and they are lovely looking. Anastasia looks more real than most princesses. And just look at these gifs, look how romantic and pretty she is “despite” all those “flaws”.
And look at her ariel-pretty hair.
But a disney princess gotta have a message, right? Let me tell you about that. She stood up to her mother and sister and said she didn’t want to do bad things any more. What could ever be harder for a child to tell their parent that their heart is saying otherwise?
She always followed her mother simply because “mother is always right” as many girls grow up to believe. Her mother hated Cinderella for being perfect both inside and outside, she was (as the first movie says) jealous of Cinderella because of this. ANASTASIA’S OWN MOTHER thought Cinderella was better, giving her own two daughters horrible self image. And I know a lot of girls can recognise themselves in that (if not from their mother, then from adults in general society telling us what’s best for us and not).
Her mother was wrong and she realised this, she found her own love despite what her mother said. Her mother was all like “NO YOU NEED TO BE RICH AND PRETTY TO BE A PRINCESS, YOU’RE NOT! THE ONLY WAY TO SOLVE THIS IS TO STEAL MAGIC AND BIBIDI BOBIDI BOO MAKE IT HAPPEN OK??” but NO, no! Anastasia said no! she said it was wrong! SHE MADE THE RIGHT THING.. Against her own MOTHER.. because sometimes… Mothers aren’t right. Sometimes the people we depend on taking care of us and to know better are wrong, and it can be the hardest thing in the world to confront.
Sometimes you just gotta go by your own heart and Anastasia did. I think she’s cute and I just want a movie about her.
Like.. ok.. we kinda already got her as a side story but.. but like… still… I feel like she got robbed of her own movie because of that.
;~;…
I just have so many feels about Anastasia ToT
Yea, this is one of those rare gem moments to be found in disney sequels. 83 And she does rock the Ariel hair so well.
